The Excel to PDF tool converts Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (.xls or .xlsx) into a fixed-layout PDF for sharing, printing, or archiving. Processing runs in your browser, so your data never leaves your device.
Spreadsheets often shift between computers because of different fonts, screen sizes, and print areas. A PDF locks the view so reviewers see the same rows, columns, and charts you intended.
Spreadsheets are notoriously unstable when shared in their native format: column widths shift with screen size, print areas differ between machines, and a sheet that fits neatly on one monitor can sprawl across a dozen pages on another. A PDF export locks the exact view you intend, so reviewers see the same rows, columns, and chart placement regardless of their setup.
The conversion captures the visible cell values and charts as a fixed-layout document, which is ideal for archiving financial reports, sharing a finalised budget, or submitting a data summary that should not be edited further. Because the output is a PDF, it opens consistently in any reader without needing Excel installed.
Conversion runs locally in the browser. The tool parses the .xlsx Open XML package — a ZIP archive of sheet, shared-string, and chart parts — reads each worksheet cell grid and computed values, and renders the visible area to a PDF page using pdf-lib. Charts are rendered from their cached image data so they appear in the output as they did on screen.
Your spreadsheet never leaves your device: parsing and rendering happen entirely in the browser with no upload and no server-side copy. The renderer preserves cell text, numbers, basic borders, and chart images; advanced features such as conditional formatting icons, pivot tables, and embedded macros are not carried into the PDF, which is standard for a fixed-format export. Review the output to confirm the print area matches your intent.
Both .xls and .xlsx files are accepted. Wide sheets may split across multiple PDF pages — adjust the print area or scale in Excel before exporting if you need a specific layout. For combining several spreadsheets into one PDF, convert each separately and use Merge PDF. To shrink a large resulting PDF, follow up with the Compress PDF tool.
