The Currency Converter lets you convert any amount from one world currency into another using real-time exchange rates. It supports more than 150 currencies — from the US Dollar, Euro, and British Pound to the Japanese Yen, Indian Rupee, and Brazilian Real — so you can check a price, plan a trip budget, or settle an international invoice in seconds.
Exchange rates are the prices at which one currency trades against another, and they move constantly as banks, businesses, and governments buy and sell across global markets. This tool pulls fresh rates from a reliable exchange-rate data provider and caches them for about an hour, so the figure you see reflects a recent market snapshot rather than a stale guess.
A conversion works by expressing both currencies against a common reference (typically the US Dollar) and then taking the ratio between them. So to convert 100 Euros into Japanese Yen, the tool divides the Euro rate by the Yen rate and multiplies by your amount — the same arithmetic a bank or accounting system uses, without the manual lookup.
Practical uses include comparing prices while shopping on foreign websites, budgeting travel spending before you fly, invoicing clients in their own currency, and double-checking the rate your bank quoted for an international transfer. Enter an amount, pick the source and target currencies, and read the converted value plus the unit exchange rate instantly.
When you open the tool, your browser asks Convert26’s server for the latest exchange rates, which in turn fetches them from a public exchange-rate API that aggregates data from central banks and foreign-exchange markets. The server caches the response for about an hour, so repeated conversions do not hammer the upstream provider and the page stays fast.
Every rate is expressed relative to a single base currency (the US Dollar). To convert from currency A to currency B, the tool divides your amount by A’s rate and multiplies by B’s rate — the standard cross-rate formula. This means the result is mathematically consistent no matter which pair you choose, and swapping the two currencies simply inverts the same ratio.
Only the amount and the currency codes you select are sent to the server, and only to fetch the rate table — no personal data, account information, or conversion history is stored. Currency names are rendered locally in your browser using the built-in Internationalization API, so they appear in your active language without any extra request.
